Falken Tires Falken Ziex ZE-512
Falken Ziex ZE-512 Review

Anonymous"honda civic si - 15/205/55 - This tire is the worst tire I've owned. I only had it for 1 year and it's worn down to less than 20% with only 20k on them. I can understand how this tire has good grip on dry since it's so soft and wears down like it's made of silly putty. I bought this tire because this site rated it so high but the truth of it is that no one should buy this tire. I even called some tire dealers and they all said this tires tread life is poor."

TDI_rules"2002 VW Golf TDI - 195 65R15 - Pretty good bang for the buck. Excellent dry and rain grip, poor in the snow (as should be expected from anything other than a snow tire). Fronts wore out really fast, after only 20,000km they need replacing (forgot to rotate at 10k), backs are fine. Handling is nice, slip is predictable, nice and quiet ride, high PSI for good mileage, and they track nice & straight on the highway."

Martin"Nissan Altima - 205/60R15 - Bridgestone RE92's were bald on my '95 Altima, so I was looking for an inexepnsive repalcement. Couldn't beleive the price on the Falken's ($47 US) and they are rated #1 in consumer reports. Car rides and handles better than new - and the tires look great. Falken (Sumitomo) might not be a major brand, but beats all the majors for the price in my book."

Michael"Honda Accord - 195 X 60 X 15 - I bought these tires off of the recommendation from Consumer Reports and I was very dissatisfied. They were an okay tire for handling and dry traction but they did not last even 25K miles!! I rotated them on schedule but they didn't last at all! I have since bought Yokohama Avid Touring tires and they seem like 10X the tire! Don't buy the Falkens if you want them to last!"

Anonymous"Terrible handling. They stop fast on straight roads, but that doesn't hold up when you try to turn. It's a good thing you can stop fast, because your car won't turn worth anything. If someone says they handle well, look at what tires their car came with. These are only better than the worst factory tires."

Robert"Accord V6 - 205-60/16 - Follow up to a previous review. After a year, the tires are holding up well; not much wear. Wet traction is good, dry is excellent. Tires are a bit squirmy, but I do have ones with a fairly high profile. The noise issue I previously stated was and is still there. As I speed up frequency of the oscillating noise increases; as I slow down, the noise is even more noticeable. Tread pattern and tires that are probably out of round is the problem, I guess. The tires that it replaced didn't have this noise, and were noticeably quieter. My car is almost new, and I have high end mags. I went back to Volco, and they said there's something wrong with my car! Their service sucks, and they don't have anyone competent. If not for the noise issue, I'd rate this tire as a pretty good value. Excellent dry traction, decent wet and snow traction. Noisy, but somewhat comfortable."

Anonymous"99 Nissan Sentra - 175/65R14 - These tires were a poor choice for me. The treadlife isn't great and I almost killed myself on wet surface. Also, don't expect to go up a snow-covered incline with these. Great value for dry warm weather though."

Corey"2005 Honda Civic EX Coupe - 195/60zr15 - Very good tires. have been using falken's for the past 5 years, from the 502 and then in late 2003 the 512s. Best tire on the market if you want high perf all season... btw i cant get stuck in snow with these... ive tried but i cant haha"

Anonymous"2002 VW Jetta 1.8T GLS - 205/60R/15 - Great handling in dry and wet. Great traction. Treadwear sucks. Sidewalls definitely need improvement. I had the 502's on the same vehicle which rode almost as good but way better treadlife. Time to bring come out with the 522's with a better tread compound."

MyZmZm"Protege5 - 205/40r17 - While I do like the tire, if you are into 'spirited' driving in any way - street or track - look elsewhere. Under harder driving conditions (off-ramps at 70kph, etc) they wear very quickly. Had them on my car for one summer, about 8000 km, and the tread on the fronts is about half gone, and the decrease in grip was noticeable. Currently looking for different tires for summer."

BG"2001 BMW 325i - 235/40/18 - Initially a very good tire, very quiet and very good traction. I drive *very* spiritedly. However, after only 11,000 miles in 7 months they are nearly down to the wear bars and all of a sudden they are so loud that they are truly unbearable. I've also had two recent punctures/slow leaks; one was plugged and I'm not even going to bother with the second one; just going to replace tires with another brand. Overall I guess I got what I paid for, but I'm very disappointed in the short short tread life. "

CPO"Audo A6 2.7T - 215/55R16 - Didn't last more than 15K miles on concrete roads. Sidewalls bald. Will never buy again."

Jesse"2003 Nissan Maxima SE - 225/50r17 - Used these as a winter tire in CO since we ususally see dry roads 70-80% of the winter. First winter, tires performed very well in snow and wet conditions. Much better than OE Potenza RE92's, but cornering and handling decreased a bit. Second winter(5-7k miles of use on tires) snow performace went down really fast with wet traction begining to suffer as well. I kept them on for the summer as well and at about 12-15k miles on tires their dry traction went as well and it was as if I had the old bald Potenza's on the car. Tires still had at least 50-60% tread left, but to me were useless. I don't recommend these tires."

Andy Astra"Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Sxi (2002) - 205x50 16 - Very, very disappointing! Coming from oe Michelin tyres I've found the excess tyre wall deflection (squirm) very alarming! You can drive with it - but you try braking hard on a bend, the car literally wobbles like a jelly! The tyre pressures are bang on as well! My advice - spend some extra money and get a better brand. Its either Goodyear or Michelins for me next - and it can't come soon enough! Traction in a straight line is good but the handling is terrible!"

AJW"Acura RSX Type-S - 205/55V/R16 - Bought these to replace the OEM Michelin HXMXM4s. The Michelins were barely adequate on dry, however, were horrible on wet and snow. After running 5000 km on the 512s I can say that they COULD be a good tire for the AVERAGE vehicle. However, the soft sidewalls negate any advantage a firm suspension brings. While dry/wet traction was superb, turn-in initiation was exceptionally poor. At 100km/h, the car feels like it's fishtailing when a turn is initiated and finished. Other than that, road noise is very low and the ride is comfortable; traits that would work well on an AVERAGE car. Won't be buying these again."

wpsulli"'99 Camry - 205/65x15 - Tires feel very grippy wet or dry with a nice quiet, but composed ride. After 30k miles, they are nearly done, but well worth the price."
