Goodyear Eagle UG GW2 Review

keith"these tires are the same as the fulda kristall rotego(goodyear owns fulda)phenomenal tire for the price! I mounted 215/55R/16 on my 2000 ford p71 for the winter last year-I was not disappointed! Don;t drive them after winter-the soft compound will rapidly disappear!!!!"

Ralf"These are mounted on a Honda Civic coupe. This is a pretty light car and therfore typically handles worse in snowy conditions. However these tires perform very well in snowy and wet conditions. Dry performance is also very good and much better than other, lower performance tires. I typically run higher performance tires (summer tires--Yoko AVS intermediate of AVS ES100) and am used to that performance. I expected to give up a large amount of performance but am very pleasantly suprised with these tires versus other winter tires. These seem to be more directed towards a combination of performance driving and good winter/snow performance versus dedicated snow/winter performance. I would defintely recommend them. They are also available in the smaller 185/60/14 size which is hard to find for a "performance" winter tire."

Ralf"One additional comment. If they are a "winter" tire, why aren't they marked with the "snowflake" logo on the sidewall. My tires are definetely GW2 tires but do not have this symbol. Weird. "

Great grip in the snow (both deep and compact snow/ice). They're definitely not summer tires but perform very well in dry conditions. Overall, a great tire for somehow that experiences all weather conditions in the winter time."

Started and stopped without slipping. When the snow turned to glaze ice on the road, others were literally abandoning their cars. I drove carefully and was able to start and stop just fine. Of course, I did drive very carefully on the ice. My top speed was 25 mph. Only complaint is I noticed a hum on dry pavement over 75 mph. Overall a minor complaint. Highly recommend this tire for winter driving. Consumer Reports was right to rate it #1."

Steve"I have these on my 95 Maxima SE and my wife's 03 Honda Odyssey. I do a lot of driving in the snowbelt off Lake Huron. These tires are a great compromise between all-season tires and the soft spongy type ice tires. I found performance on wet/dry conditions comparable to a quality all-season tire. Traction in deep snow and hard packed snow is very good. The tires start to show their limits in very icy conditions but I prefer to take it extra easy the few times I face them every winter in exchange for the superior wet and dry performance the rest of the time. Treadwear is excellant for a winter tire. "

Kevin"1992 Dodge Caravan - I had a set of these tires on my work vehicle - a Police package 2001 Impala and was so impressed with them that I put a set on my 2002 Grans Caravan. Excellent tires in snow and when driving in standing water. We get a lot of snow here and they get great traction starting off. They are very good in the dry, and wear well."

Dan"Honda Civic Modified - P195/60/14 - I have to deal with Canadain winters which includes wet slippery snow and heavy rain. This tire is an excellent winter tire. Not to noisey, great looks and tread design and going on to my 3rd season and little sign of wear. Great tire. "

Arn Kashino"2001 Subaru Outback - 225/60R16 - I'm into my 3rd winter now with these tires and they're just as good now as there were back in 2003 when I got them. Unless the new GW3's are significantly better, I may have to buy another set of these if they still make them. I also noticed that the police cars up here in Toronto use these tires. "
