1st off, I own a repair shop which sells and installs tires. I purchased a set of these 3 months ago for my shop loaner which I also daily drive when not on loan. It has optional 17 " wheels with 225/45/17's.
At 1st I was impressed. They are excellent in the dry, decent in the wet etc. I put about 3k on them and then lent the car to a customer for 3 weeks while his car-also a NB TDI was being repaired. When I go the car back I was astonished to see that BOTH front tires were bald. The rears are more than 1/2 worn as well. The wear pattern is fine and the inflation pressure was 35 psi. He drove the car about 8K, he uses the car for work. So in 11k the front tires were gone. Now granted, they were never rotated and my customer drove it 8k while I only did 3. However, this same customer had a set of Pirelli P7's on their own NB which were rated at 70k and they got 70K. They now have Nexens with a 65k rating and it looks like he will see 65K. Both of these sets were rotated at 10K intervals.
Bottom line? I went back to Nitto's which grip as well but wear far better. Not a good choice if you want reasonable tread wear.
