Those tires are great ! I have never used better winter tires on my vehicle. The harsh road conditions of the province of Quebec seems to be of no importance to those tires. They rock.
I usually go around the corners with the hand-brake when nobody is around (who never did ?) and I have absolute control.
The only downside is when the road is warm, the tires are less grippy, but it would still be sufficient for those who do use winter tires all year round.
For being a very aggressive "True" snow tire, these are surprisingly smooth and quiet for what they are rated for. I drive 40 miles each way to work, 6 days a week, 2/3rd's of it being hilly, winding back roads. I have also gone through more tires than I can remember in my decades of driving. If you're looking for a severe winter tire that can get you home and around those who thought they knew how to drive in bad snow, then you've chosen correctly. I own a few different vehicles ranging from 4WD's to my everyday commuter, just a FWD TDI Jetta that goes as good as any 4WD. And yes it all depends on your knowledge and experience of different driving conditions. Considering ground clearance, I have given 4WD trucks a run for their money on some semi-off road terrain. I'm not recommending you try this, just saying these ST2's gave me the capability and confidence to prove this, and proved it indeed.
