I've put 40K on my 50k tread tires. Though they are ready to be replaced, this is excellent tread life for a Volvo XC that does 98% mountain driving. I've never had a set of tires last this long!
In snow, climbing mountain grass pastyre slopes, and fording rocky unimproved streams they do fantastic. No, they don't handle mountain road curves like sports car tires but they give excellent traction in both bad weather and true off road driving. In addition they go down the highway quietly and comfortably.
As far as cornering in the mountains, it could be better but a lot of this is the all wheel drive system and not the tire. A softer tire does grip the road and corner better but they don't last more than 10k in the mountains. Frankly, if I drive any faster my groceries spill and roll all over the car. So yes, they do well enough. I'm not a rally driver but I seldom get passed.
Yes, I'm going to get another set.
