I have had a chance to evaluate these tires on snow, ice, and slush over the past two months. The ratings are based on winter conditions. Dry traction is often influenced by salt residue on the pavement, so this is not a big variable on winter tires. Wet is for operation in slush. The directional tread on these tires works very well here. Snow traction is excellent, as is grip on ice. Stability is also very good. They have been quiet so far, but are not silent. The treadwear is a guess based on the fact that the tread rubber is very soft, about the same as the pink eraser on a #2 Mirado pencil. I think it would be unwise to run these at temperatures above 10C, and you don't want to slide them when dry. Note I have two sets of these. The other is on my wife's 2008 Saab 9-3 2.0T Sedan with the same tire size on 16" rims. Summer tires go on 17" rims with 45 series.
