I am on my second set of Nitto Trail Grapplers(Which I bought in Feburay 2016 and has less than 5,000.miles). I was pulling into my driveway which is lined with rocks about 12" x 12" in size. I clipped one and immediately my tire air pressure warning begin to flash. I got out and i saw a small tear in my sidewall. I couldn't believe it. I was going less than 5 mph and this amount of damage was done by clipping a rock. Now i know of a bunch of people buy these for off-roading and rock climbing. I got them for traction in the snow and seasonal off road for hunting. I am just glad it happened at a slow speed. Here is the response from Nitto: Unfortunately, Nitto tires do not have any warranty coverage for road hazards. Also, for reference if your tire strikes a road hazard at any speed, internal tire damage could result, which may lead to sudden tire failure and loss of vehicle control. Tire failure may even occur miles after the initial impact. Impact damage from such hazards may not be visible on the outside of the tire and it may be necessary to have the tire removed from the wheel for a complete inspection. Sincerely, Nitto Technical Department
Great customer service. If i make a product and sell it to consumers with a no warranty label, I would still back up my product in some cases. I know that I was a big proponent of Nitto tire but after this experience , I will never purchase another product from Nitto. Also will I never recommend Nitto products. Please pass along my experience to others on social media as well as in person. For those out there that still have a set on thier vehicles, watch out for rocks.
Wow! I was unsure about which tires to get, and now I am Very pleased with these. I went for an "E" rated tire and and so happy I did't go less. These tires are very quiet, even at 120km/hr. Superior handling and feeling of confidence in a corner at above recommended speeds. I am running 42 psi on all four. Off -road, I was impressed at the things I was going up, where usually I would have gone to 4x4. Haven't tried them in the snow, that why low rating, just got them, but understand they will last quiet a while
2012 F150 Supercrew FX4 P275/55 R20. Decent tire in the dry. In the wet, well Ecoboost at 2500 rpms breaks these tires loose. Tire tread looks deceivingly good, but when worn these tires have no grip on an unloaded big 4x4. Dec. +4 degrees, BC rain. Fishtailed, hydroplaned at 50/km, 180 into a tree. Foot off the gas, countersteering, no grip. 30 years driving RWD trucks. I got a 2013 F150 FX4 parked in the garage with Scorpion ATR's (and 330 lbs of crushed rock in the bed). I am driving slowly to the Tire store to put on winter tires: 4x Michelin Latitude X-ice Xi2 $1344 installed, tax in. had a 2009 F150 FX4 5.4L with Pirelli Scorpions @ 50K kms they were useless in winter. Couldn't afford 20" winter tires so I traded truck in and got a AWD Flex to survive the Ontario snow.
BUYER BEWARE THESE ARE THE WORST TIRES EVER!!! THESE CAME NEW ON MY TRUCK ( BOUGHT USED AT 39,000KM) AND I AHVE HAD THESE TIRE ON IT SINCE APRIL AND I HAVE JUST ROLLED 25,000KM ON THESE TIRES AND NEED NEW TIRES!!
I HAVE MY TIRES REGULARLY ROTATED AS WELL AS ALIGNED, AND YET THESE TIRES WORE SO BAD I DON’T EVEN HAVE TRACTION IN RAIN!!! I DROVE IN THE SNOW YESTERDAY IN 4X4 AND I WAS SLIDING ALL OVER THE PLACE AND I WAS DRIVING SLOW. IIN THE RAINTHESE TIRES ARE JUST AS BAD AS BEING ON SNOW!!! I COULDN’T EVEN TAKE OFF FROMA STOP LIGHT WITH OUT THE TIRES WANTING TO LOSE TRACTION!! THE SIDE WALLS ARE ALSO AN ISSUE THEY ARE SOFT LIKE A SPUNG!!! OVRALL THESE ARE THE WORST TIRE I HAVE EVER HAD!!
I just purchased the second set of M/S 2 Tires. The first set I owned where on a work truck in the Oilfield. They where put through hell and never had a problem. I put 98000 miles on them over bad roads and highways. These are the best tires I have ever owned. So when I purchased my current truck used it had a set of Saffiro Maxtrac tires on it. They began to fall apart after 10000 miles mild use. So after my fourth flat on four different tires I decided to go with the tried and true and put the M/S2s on my truck. First impressions are good. seems to take bumps a little harder but thats ok. Mileage improved slightly and the ride is much Quiter. Will keep informed if anything changes
Everybody keeps telling me these are a crappy tire. I have had my truck for almost 3 years, tires are factory when I bought my truck. I have put 76,000 kms on these tires, back roads, highways, cross country, and 3 winters. I still have tread left. I regularly rotated them with every recommended service. And I had the beads cleaned once a year, and today getting a wheel alignment because of some cupping (my trucks fault, not the tire). A good god damn tire. Just bought another set today to store in my shed until the ones on my truck are completely done. Highly recommend buying. Calgary, AB
Great tire all around, doesn't make any noise like some say. these are not snow tires and you can't compare but they have been a life saver in the harsh winters we have here in Canada. I will definitely buy these again when the time comes around. As for now they look sick on my raptor.
This tire is horrible. I bought my Ford F150 new. Tires were getting punctures all the time. The rubber separated on the first tire at 30,000 miles. The next 2 tires had belts break around 35,000. Goodyear would not do anything. I replaced the fourth tire for fear of safety issues.
