I put these on my GTI when the stock Dunlop AS were done. I chose these Falken's because they were on sale at Sears buy 3 get 1 free, and they have a 40k treadwear warranty. I had one replaced under road hazard when it bubbled from a DC pothole.
In the summer, these tires are quieter than the Dunlops, but also have less grip on dry pavement. On wet pavement, they were average for 15k miles and now are significantly below average. In cold temps, these tires are terrible. In snow they are completely worthless. They should not be labeled as "all season." At 20 degrees they are as hard as a rock - you can't even get your thumbnail to leave an indent in the rubber at all.
I have driven in 34 winters in my life in all kinds of vehicles with all kinds of tires and these tires are the worst cold/snow tires I have ever experienced.
Falken actually produces this tire now, and it is an excellent tire for the cost. I have these babies mounted on steel rims and they've been excellent for snowy New England in 2013 so far. I'm actually looking forward to more snow so I can really see how good they hold up.
First time purchasing tires/rims online. Was skeptical, but this was the best service I've ever received for an online purchase. I was kept in the loop, and when I felt I wasnt, it was a simple e-mail away, and them got back in touch. Will buy here again, and refer friends!
