The Discoverer A/T3™ utilizes a balanced combination of technology, compounding and design to produce a tire that will perform well in nearly all types of terrains. The tread compound enhances wet traction and rolling resistance, while the aggressive tread design significantly improves off-road traction without sacrificing highway performance. All traction, all terrain, all the time!

  • Modern, Aggressive 5-Rib All-Terrain Design. The aggressive all-terrain design is engineered to provide outstanding performance in both on-road and off-road driving applications. The A/T3 tread pattern exploits a combination of features specifically suited to provide solid all-terrain performance, superior all-season traction, excellent stability, confident handling and reliable tread wear.
  • Silica Based Tread Compound. The tread compound is formulated with a chemically coupled silica and carbon black mixture that provides excellent wet traction and handling on the highway, while also improving cut and chip resistance in more harsh rocky and gravel terrain. The silica enriched tread compound has lower rolling resistance than traditional full carbon black tread compounds.
  • Dual Draft Tread Element Walls. The dual draft angles on the tread element walls aid in reducing stone retention, stone drilling and assist in cut and chip resistance.
  • Lateral Groove Protectors. Serrated steps in the lateral grooves of the intermediate tread rib reduces the chance of stone retention and stone drilling.

The tire dealer talked me out of the Firestone destination A/T, and into the Cooper AT3. These are on a 3/4 ton 4x4 6.5 TD Suburban. Absolutely terrible hookup in wet/dry/offroad. I've tried all different tire pressures, from 30psi to 55 psi and still no luck. they spin on ANY loose surface, and work marginally ok in dry conditions, and totally suck in ice and snow. And to top it off they don't want to wear out, so after 20k miles they still look great, but I know the real story. Not worth the $30 per tire saved over Firestones or another major brand. Been super unhappy with their performance since day one, and it never got better. But if what matters most is looks and long wearing tires, go for these; just don't go off road, or drive in the rain or snow or on gravel.

I had high hopes for these tires because they are american made but they disappointed me. First, it took a great deal of weight to balance the tires. After having them installed I put 1000 miles on them over a weekend through a variety of weather conditions. The tires felt terrible. There seemed to be a great deal of sidewall flex in the tires which made it feel like the back end was going to kick out. I tried adjusting the air pressure up and down with little help. The tires had good dry traction and good snow traction but were terrible in the ice. Road noise was not bad considering these are an AT tire. I had the tires replaced once I got back from my weekend trip. I would not recommend these tires.
