The Discoverer CTS™ is a premium luxury touring tire designed to deliver higher levels of wet traction, ride comfort and appearance. The CTS provides enhanced ride comfort and performance for your high-end SUV, CUV or truck.

  • R-Tech Construction. R-Tech construction utilizes several design features that work in concert to provide enhanced tire performance.
  • Innovative 5 Rib All-Season Tread Design. The innovative 5-rib tread design incorporates numerous features to provide for excellent stability, traction and tread wear.
  • Coupled Silica Tread Compound. The chemically coupled silica and carbon black compound allows for superior wet traction without sacrificing tread wear. An optimized polymer matrix allows the compound to remain pliable at lower temperatures while contributing to lower rolling resistance.
  • Wide "Stepped" Circumferential Grooves. Four "stepped" circumferential grooves resist hydroplaning at higher speeds and provide gripping edges for increased traction on soft surfaces.

I live in Northern Ontario and drive an AWD Mazda tribute. Really, any tire is going perform well on dry or wet roads. I'd have to say I was on the 400 going about 120km/hr in a very hard rain and did not feel like I was going to hydroplane at all. The treads are deeper than most brands out there. This helps for the downpours, snow, and off road. I used these tires for launching a 16ft aluminum boat on back road launches. I use these hunting in all kinds of terrain (light mud, rocks, deep ditches, atv trails). Never got stuck but didn't push it too hard. These are great in the winter! I used these to park in an unmaintained lot all winter in Sudbury, and never got stuck. Very close to winter tire traction but you still have to drive to conditions and I would still recommend winter tires for most people. It looks like they were hard to balance because they have A LOT of clip-on weights they use for balancing but I've had no problems. The tread seems to be wearing very well.

I bought my CTS tires and had them installed at 103,000 miles. They've been nothing but a headache. I've been back to the retailer 3 times with vibration issues. They have checked the alignment of the truck twice, which resulted in nothing. I was informed on my first visit back to the retailer that one of the tires was defective, which they replaced, but it only partially fixed the problem, which is why I have been back. Long story short, after thinking that perhaps something was mechanically wrong with my truck,I replaced wheel bearings, rotors, had an alignment outside of the tire retailer and replaced the tie rods. I finally had enough. I replaced the Cooper tires with Goodyear Wranglers. Truck is as smooth as ever! I have the Cooper tires if anyone is interested, they have about 35% tread left at only 30,000 miles of use with regular rotation. Good riddance!
