The Ultra Grip Ice WRT are some of the best winter tires out there. They performed flawlessly this winter in dry conditions and rain, as well as slush, deeper snow, and a bit of ice. Braking never suffered, no matter how bad the weather got and the handling never got unpredictable. Very balanced tires - great for mixed weather conditions.
I got to have fun with them in the snow a few times as well and they had excellent handling when used for more aggressive driving on my AWD car.
Before I've tried the famous Nokian Hakka Rs and the Goodyears were just as good at a lower price.

Not the proper tire picture. Best tires what you can find for changing weather conditions. They are excellent on ice and snow. They are quiet. Driving every day between Toronto and Barrie where you can get everything including black ice, heavy rain or snow gives me security and comfort. This is number 1 winter tire.

Great winter tire from Goodyear. Had 'no-name' winter rubber on my previous vehicle ('08 Chev Equinox) and the difference between the two is staggering. These are priced similarly to the X-Ice3s, but in my opinion are worth every cent. They provide the necessary elements to be able to handle winter in Alberta, as well, when the roads are cleared and dry, they also handle quite well and hold true to their speed rating.
The only downside is they a slightly nosier compared to other winter tires I've encountered.

After getting stuck multiple times during the last snow storm, I decided to purchase these tires based on the excellent ratings they had been getting. I used to be a firm believer that with 4 wheel drive one didn't need to have winter tires. However, after driving with these for a couple of months on ice, snow, and dry pavement, I am now a winter tire believer. They have excellent traction in snow and corner great. On my all seasons, the back end of my SUV used to slide out consistently while cornering whereas as now it digs in and holds the intended line beautifully. These tires do have a slight hum on the highway, but that was expected and is easily masked by the radio. In the end, I would not hesitate to recommend this tire a I will be buying a set for my next vehicle.

This is my third set of Goodyear UltraGrip ice over two vehicules and 10 years. Living in Prince George BC and commuting 35 kms to work one-way daily, I need a good tire that can deal with snow and ice galore. I won't use anything else. I did drive one vehicle for a winter with another brand of best selling winter tires (or so as the dealership told me), and they were nowhere comparable to the grip and solid handling of these tires.
As a single-income household, I usually look for cheaper alternatives to just about anything, but I won't compromise on the sense of safety and confidence that these tires give me.
