With over a century of experience under their belt, Michelin Tire’s history dates back to the 1890’s, when it was a simple rubber factory in France. The rubber factory was owned by brothers, Édouard and André Michelin, who took an interest in improving the existing pneumatic bicycle tire. They took out a patent for the first removable pneumatic bicycle tire. This was the first of many innovations that the Michelin brothers made to the tire industry; their business eventually graduating from bicycle tires to automobiles tires. Today they are the largest tire producer in the world. Michelin tires are original equipment by top automotive brands like Mercedes-Benz, Acura, Audi, BMW, Lexus, Volvo, Honda, Chevrolet Corvette and Dodge Viper. Producing the high quality tires that deliver miles and miles of driving pleasure starts at the Michelin Americas Research and Development facility. Their R&D facility is responsible for developing fine products, such as the first 80,000 mile passenger tire. Michelin tires deliver great handling, superior wet traction, long mileage and traction. Michelin’s R&D team does not believe in compromise when it comes to the quality of their product.
