The Pilot Sport 4S is Michelin Max Performance Summer tire developed in cooperation with some of the most demanding vehicle manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche to utilize key technologies engineered during competition in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was designed for serious drivers looking to maximize the performance potential of their sports cars, performance sedans and powerful luxury vehicles. The Pilot Sport 4S excels in warm dry and wet conditions, so like all Max Performance Summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

  • 1st in dry laptime. - Dynamic Response Technology creates exceptional steering precision and directional stability, while the competition inspired asymmetric tread pattern provides high levels of lateral grip.
  • 1st in dry braking. - Multi-Compound construction uses a unique hybrid elastomer developed in competitions such as the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), 24 Hours of Le Mans, Formula-E, and the WRC to promote grip and endurance on dry pavement.
  • 1st in wet braking. - Multi-Compound construction places a new mix of functionalized elastomers and high levels of silica on the inboard side of the tread for breakthrough levels of wet performance.
  • Experience added miles of exhilarating drives with 9% better treadlife than the MICHELIN® PILOT® Super Sport. - MICHELIN® Total Performance™ overcomes the usual tradeoff of wear for grip to deliver both incredible traction and improved tread life.
  • Michelin always aims to bring together multiple performances. - At MICHELIN, we continuously push safety, durability and fuel efficiency, and even more performances, all at the same time and with no trade-offs. That’s what we mean by MICHELIN® Total Performance™, which has and will always be our difference on every tire.

It's time somebody writes up a review for these max performance tire class leaders... I mean, I don't think I've experienced something quite like it. It's short of an R compound tire but it does everything a great UHP tire does, only much better. My recent sets include used Bridgestone RE050As, brand new RE050As, new Michelin A/S 3 Plus, Toyo Proxes 4, Kuhmo Ecsta SPT and Bridgestone RE970AS between the different vehicles that I own. Now this, which is the successor to the class leading PSS, holds up like glue in stormy weather (i.e. some standing water on the road) and corners like its predecessor. It blows away anything I've owned grip wise, and a friend of mine who runs R compounds in the same platform (Z33) says it's indeed the best street tire money can buy. I'm on parental leave and have nothing to do today so I'm not pumping anybody's tires on purpose... if every sport-ish car driver ran those we would see an increase in dangerous maneuvers on the road due to widespread feelings of invincibility. -Jack
