    I bought the Blizzak as a replacement for my Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3. I live in Montreal, and I found that, although the PA3 had great handling on dry pavement and ice, it was horrible in loose snow that is several inches deep. Moreover, I found that I often had trouble climbing a hill in my rear-wheel drive car, even after disengaging the traction control. The Blizzak is a softer and spongier tire than the PA3. It has a more aggressive tread than the PA3 and I find that the car can plow through snow without engaging any of the car's traction and stability controls. It really is a snow tire, thus it is slightly more noisy and has less stiffness in dry corners than the PA3. However, for a real-wheel drive car, it is a good compromise. I have yet to try it at temperatures below -10C, so I am not certain how well its sticks to the dry pavement in tight corners. I know that the PA3 would require some counter steering at below -12C when I entered a corner too aggressively. I look forward to not getting stuck in show banks that are more than 6 inches, and I will revise this post over the winter.
