Original equipment on many high-performance vehicles, the Potenza RE050 is built for the pleasure of driving. This tire comes loaded with race-proven technology: UNI-T for outstanding wet and dry traction, a tread pattern that promotes rapid water evacuation, variable dimensions in the tread blocks, and the smoother shape to reduce road noise. An asymmetrical pattern in the RE050A tread increases surface contact to enhance acceleration and cornering. Put this Potenza through its paces and discover what ultra-high performance really means.

Been using these runflat tyres for 90,000 miles in my BMW 645Ci 333 bhp (2004) - they've needed replacing typically every 18,000 miles, but sometimes less. I do probably 9000 miles per annum on motorway plus 5000 local roads. The front tyres (Bridgestone Potenza 050A 245/40 R18 99 W) often scrub out on the edges and need replacing early because of that - but I think that's a typical BMW steering-related trait. My biggest gripe by far is the harsh ride - over any kind of bumps, cat eyes, etc, the 6 series - on these tyres at least - is terrible. Shameful! Top Gear slated the 6 series for that. And that's on the 18 inch wheels - which have a deeper side wall, which you would think might be more "resilient / shock absorbing" than the 19 inch or 20 inch versions. I'm going to try the Continental Sport Contact 3 SSR (Self Supporting Runflat) since I've seen reviews here that they're far more comfortable - albeit on the BMW Z4.

Very soft rubber tends to pick up nails/screws. Stiff sidewall great for handling, bad for ride comfort - you choose. I thought the tires were fine and would have purchased again if not for cost and my desire to get more miles out of my tires. Replaced with Michelin Pilot Supersport (non-run flat) and purchased the BMW flat repair kit w/ electric pump and tire sealant.

Only tire I've driven on this vehicle so no comparative reference and the tires were on the vehicle when purchased so no reference to tread life. Never drove in snow so no reference there either. All in all I thought the tires performed quite well and the ride was pretty decent but that could have been the car.
