Original equipment on many high-performance vehicles, the Potenza RE050 is built for the pleasure of driving. This tire comes loaded with race-proven technology: UNI-T for outstanding wet and dry traction, a tread pattern that promotes rapid water evacuation, variable dimensions in the tread blocks, and the smoother shape to reduce road noise. An asymmetrical pattern in the RE050A tread increases surface contact to enhance acceleration and cornering. Put this Potenza through its paces and discover what ultra-high performance really means.

Get ready to spend some money replacing these. Over and over and over. I purchased an aftermarket road hazard plan and it was the best money I've ever spent. Fortunately for me, mine manages to get a screw in them before the tire tread is gone. Which can't be repaired so they replace them at no cost. But as soon as my warranty is out I will be replacing them with something that will last longer than 15K miles.

Great for warm, dry weather. I have them on a Peugeot 207 RC (180hp) and it corners and breaks great with 175/45/17". Good enough for rainy weather. I considered larger tyres but the grip is just great. They have 35.000km and I estimate they will last at least till 50.000km with normal city usage and the ocasional sporty ride. They are horrible with negative temperatures, ice is a problem and for snow they are a source of panic. Very reduced grip and difficult control even at very low speeds. For a decent sport summer tyre I will for sure keep using my 050. But in the winter it's time for Bridgestone Blizzak.

Been using these runflat tyres for 90,000 miles in my BMW 645Ci 333 bhp (2004) - they've needed replacing typically every 18,000 miles, but sometimes less. I do probably 9000 miles per annum on motorway plus 5000 local roads. The front tyres (Bridgestone Potenza 050A 245/40 R18 99 W) often scrub out on the edges and need replacing early because of that - but I think that's a typical BMW steering-related trait. My biggest gripe by far is the harsh ride - over any kind of bumps, cat eyes, etc, the 6 series - on these tyres at least - is terrible. Shameful! Top Gear slated the 6 series for that. And that's on the 18 inch wheels - which have a deeper side wall, which you would think might be more "resilient / shock absorbing" than the 19 inch or 20 inch versions. I'm going to try the Continental Sport Contact 3 SSR (Self Supporting Runflat) since I've seen reviews here that they're far more comfortable - albeit on the BMW Z4.
