    Winter

Winter studless tire designed for excellent snow and ice traction. Performs superbly on dry and wet pavement in cold temperatures. As temperatures drop below 7 degrees, so does an all-season tire' s ability to grip the road- translating into longer stopping distances and less driving control. The ExtremeWinterContactTM is built to conquer the road with confidence- even in the coldest winter weathers.

    • Improved dry handling
    • Swift Removal of water
    • Excellent traction and braking on snow
    • Reduced braking distances in snow and ice

I've only been running these for about a month so I don't have a clear idea of how they'll wear over time but on all other points: TOP MARKS. These tires are fantastic. They handle beautifully, sticking to snow, ice and bare pavement very competently. While I bought these tires for their value pricing and excellent reviews, not noise level, I'm pleasantly surprised by how quiet they are. Highly recommended.

These tires are impressive. Coupled with the AWD of the Outback, they have never slipped once ! Driving at speed limits, cornering, braking and acceleration on snow is a no brainer. In the dry they really do stick like glue to the road with very positive steering. Did I mention quiet and smooooooth too. Highly recommended.

The tires were purchased in early October when it was still relatively warm. I was first impressed by how quiet they are and how good they feel on the road. By early November the temperatures were dipping and there were several days when the roads were wet or slightly snow-covered and slippery. Some cars were in the ditch. My tires stuck like glue. Tonight was the final test. I live in Barrie Ontario (i.e. in the snow-belt) and as I write this review we are caught in the middle of a Georgian Bay streamer. The conditions are blizzard-like and the snow is DEEP. I live half way up a very steep hill. While other cars were crawling up the hill in the plowed center lane, I cruised by them in the unplowed curb lane... in DEEP snow..... without a problem. I am ecstatic! I had read some reviews about ExtremeWinterContacts from people with smaller diameter wheels like mine and some commented that the tires were bad in deep snow. My worries are over. These tires are all around great! The only thing that I cannot comment on is the tread wear as I haven't had them long enough. I rated the tread wear 3/5 as I could not submit this review without rating it. It could be better, it could be worse. I shall let you know.

Put these tires on wife's BMW x drive and the car out performed my f150 four wheel drive pickup. Outstanding performance on hard packed snow that is turning to ice and in fresh snow up to 6 inches deep. Able to gain traction from standstill and climb hills in winter conditions on her all wheel drive 328i. This is third winter and tread looks OK for another long cold winter in western Pennsylvania. Probably will be last winter that they are used before needing replaced. Tire wear is about average for mileage she puts on them. Would definitely buy again despite average tire wear.
