I bought these tires for my VW golf on the recommendation of my repair shop & a reputable tire store. These are the worst tires I've ever had! They were noisy from the beginning, sounding like tires on our trucks. I've had them for 1 1/2 years & 15,000 miles & they are worn out. I have been very prompt on getting alignments, rotation & balances. I am due a state inspection in 2 months & am going to have to fork out more $$ for tires. I was expecting at least 35,000 - 40,000 miles out of these. Will never buy & never recommend.

Ride is quite strange. On some surfaces the ride is smooth as silk, on others it is like the tires are very out of balance. It is not dependent on how smooth the road surface is, but appears. as near as I can tell, to be somehow connected to size of the aggregate in the paving material. I can be driving down the interstate and everything is fine and cross into a different county where the NCDOT awarded the repaving contract to a different contractor and it feels like I threw a weight off one of the rear wheels. When driving along with the vibration, if I cross a bridge which has not been resurfaced, the vibration can cease until I get off the bridge. Guess I would say that the problem is a combination of the vehicle's suspension tuning and the tread design of the tire-whether a different vehicle or a different size tire would exhibit the same problem I don't know. I don't know if the redesign of this tire has eliminated the problem.

I have a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition (sporty edition) and I drive pretty aggressively, and these tires are up to the task! We have had these tires for about two years now and put only around 10k miles as the car sat for about a year (typical Volkswagen issues), and theres no wear at all and sitting for that long theres no dry rot thank god. The snow traction is actually pretty impressive, MUCH better than the Kumhos that we had on it before and are on my mother's Toyota Camry. I would highly recommend these tires!

This is the second set of Altimax that I have owned. First on a 2003 Monte Carlo SS and now on a 2001 Volvo S60 T5. The road noise is minimal and the handling extraordinary. Can't say anything about the snow traction since neither vehicle has seen snow with my ownership. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for an affordable tire with good performance.
