    Gislaved

The Gislaved Nord*Frost 5 builds on the technology of its predecessor resulting in a tire with outstanding winter performance whether it is on snow, ice or in dry driving conditions. Thanks to its advanced tread pattern concept with new sipes and studs technology and its innovative tread compound, the Nord*Frost 5 fullfils the expectations of the most demanding drivers.

    Features:

    • The new directional symmetrical pattern is characterized by two parallel central ribs, large and stable shoulder blocks with wide grooves and "Force Transmission Links". It provides high lateral and longitudinal stiffness, optimizing vehicle handling and steering response, and ensuring a slower centre wear and higher mileage.
    • The circumferential central and wide shoulder grooves guarantee high protection against hydra- and slushplaning by providing fast drainage and self cleaning of the tread in snow, mud and wet.
    • The new "brilliant stud" technology with optimized stud sequence does not just guarantee high traction and durability of the spike and tread, but also ensures high force transmission, longer gripping edges and avoidance of single harmonics.
    • The new Nordic Silica tread compound contains highly active carbon black and an innovative winter grip polymer which provide outstanding ice grip and snow traction.

  • Mazda 6 - 205/65R16 - These are my first set of snow tires, so I don't have too much to go on except comparing them to all seasons. On ice, they are better than all seasons but just marginally, not a huge difference, but in snow, they are excellent, you can drive anywhere you like, they have a great grip, you no longer fight the car trying to stay in control. As for the treadwear it remains to be seen but a friend of mine tells me they wear well, lets hope so.

  • 2002 Ford Focus - 195/60R15 - These replaced a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi's. My biggest fault I found with my set was that they seemed VERY prone to road hazard impacts (two punctures that could not be fixed - all tires properly balanced, rotated, and inflated correctly). I'm not sure if it was just blind luck or whether they were poorly built. After about 30,000 km on them (mainly highway), they still had about 7/32-inch of tread left.

  • Saab XWD - 255/45/18 - Since this is my first purchase of a Sweedish car I figured I would try a Sweedish tire. The first trip on snow was amazing, I had more traction than my 4X4 SUV!! In the snow I could go anywhere and at almost traffic speeds. BUT on dry pavements this tire is NOISY
