Kumho XS are mated to the S2000 AP1 with KW V1 COilovers; Discovering dry traction on these these tires was quite difficult; here is why: Vehicle: In heavy cornering, the S2000 AP1 exhibits a slight rear toe-in characteristic thereby causing loss of available grip. Loss of grip occurs instantaneously, however not the fault of the tires, rather the bump steer issue inherent with the s2000. If suspension setup was corrected with a rear bump steer, I am more than very sure the suspension can make much more use of the available grip. Proper Suspension setup plays such a vital role in maximizing and perfectly utilizing the Kumho XS grip. The Kumho XS exceed BOTH current OEM and KW V1 suspension limits (suspension can fully compress before the tires lose grip); race-tuned suspension is recommended (with significantly higher spring rates) to better handle the grip levels of the XS. If I had control of the bound and rebound suspension it would be much easier to vary settings to properly match the XS Grip profile. Under dry hot pavement; hard corners, the XS exhibits immense grip; too much grip. I say too much grip because the grip available is so high that it makes it very difficult for the amateur/experieced driver to actually find the limits of the tires, let alone properly drive at the limits even while the XS tires are operating at optimal temperature. I was not able to measure my tire temperatures, however I was driving several laps around the Race City Speedway in Calgary during 28 C weather; hot sunny afternoon; It may or may not be true that I never fully created the optimal temperature of these tires. These tires are manufactured for competitive drivers. These tires also give the driver the ability to trace much more aggressive driving lines. While purposely breaking the available tire grip, there were not audible warnings of slip. I cannot find the progressive breakaway nature (perhaps due to the suspension setup of the S2000) of the XS & suspension setup. What was interesting is dry grip exceeds
