These tires are a must if you get more then a few inches of snow to trudge through. The grip on loose as well as packed snow is the best I have seen. Its almost like riding on rails. (this doesn't mean you can be stupid) But if you a reasonably safe driver - these will get you through the high stuff. I haven't had a need for studs so I cant comment there. However, these tires have proven themselves to me several times over in 3 Western NY winters! and several NYS thruway and back roads trips.

Had studded maxxis(no longer made) tires first then these, also had nokians and x ice non studded tires on other vehicles. These are the best in harsh conditions, I drive a lot if highways in northern alberta and feel very confident on glare ice, recommend these with studs for extreme winter, but they are really soft so I would not expect them to last on dry pavement, also was surprised how much power I could get to the ground on ice or chewing through snow with the supercharger.

Have not put these one yet.... getting mixed reviews... europe rates them very high... but North America rates them 15th top tire on world... I will be putting them on kia optima LX front well drive 2014 ... they will be studding... i live in edmonton which is the most extremest winter conditions on the planet. we do not ice our roads we plow and then gravel so there is always ice. I will review as season goes on and adjust my rating appropriate. I am a realtor who is always on the road .
