Wear quickly and seem to cause the heavier of pickups to always feel unsettled on the highway. They're fine around the city and in deep snow and ice, but are terrible on icy surfaces and at high speed. I drive a 3/4 GMC on the back roads of northern Alberta and BC, often carrying 1000lbs or more of cargo in the box. Since its either very muddy or very icy during the year I alternate between these in a 295/70R17 and 285/70R15 Toyo 10 ply snow tire. While the snow tires are useless in mud, and these excel, the MT tire immediately makes the handling feel very loose and unresponsive, as if the truck won't settle at speed. Highway driving with weight can be a little unnerving at times when a quick lane change or maneuver is required. That said, they get my truck to work through the fall and spring mud, so I'll continue to buy them, despite the poor handling and quick wear. Road noise is good for a tire of this size and aggressiveness as is deep snow performance.

Took a long time making a decision on which M/T to buy. The more I researched and read reviews the more the Open Country emerged as the best choice. Very pleased with this tire's performance so far. Off-Road: spectacular, enough said. However, it's on road performance was what surprised me. I expected a much rougher transition going from my BFG A/T's to this much more aggressive tire. But other than a very slight increase in road noise, there wasn't much difference. They handle very well on pavement, and even perform very well during high-speed driving on winding highways. They're not the best on ice, but are great in slush and even snow as well. Put it in 4x and you're getting anywhere you'd like to go. Treadwear is looking great so far too. HIGHLY recommend in the M/T category.
