Just picked these up last week. Yes they are noisy, and becasue of the studs, don't handle as well on bare road, but I only care about how these do on snow and ice because these are on my 2nd car (Jeep) that I only take on winter ski trips into the steep canyon roads of Nrn Utah. Well it snowed a foot in the mountains and I gave these a test run during the height of the storm. Flawless on snow packed, slush and icy conditions, including braking on a steep downhill incline, where the tires and studs dug in, and brought me to a stop from 20 mph without any significant skid. Very happy so far, will update after the entire winter season/

Just got these tires (studded) and took them for a "test drive" up into the Big Cottonwood Canyon in Nrn Utah, which gets an average of 500 inches of snow annually. Canyon rises 4000 vertical ft in about 10 miles. I went halfway up on a recent storm, with snow covered/packed road surface, then slush down low by the rain/snow line. There were several spinout accidents that I passed by, both up and down the canyon. But these tires on my Jeep Commander were AWESOME! Not even a slight skid or wobble during the several miles of driving past those accidents on a combination of slush turning to snowpacked roadway, with some icy spots. While going downhill (in low gear) I tried to stomp the brake once to see what would happen. All that happened was the anti-lock brakes kicking in and the tires with studs biting in, bringing my SUV gently to a complete stop on a pretty steep downgrade. Normally that kind of stunt on "all seasons" would send me into a 360 spin. Very impressed so far, haven't driven in deep snow yet (thats coming soon) but so far, I grade these an A+ on snow packed roads. On dry roads, yeah, they're a little noisy, and braking is not quite as abrupt (due to studs), but neither one bother me, the noise you get used to real quick, don't notice it at all now, compared to the first day I got these. Will keep these all winter and switch out to all seasons in the spring.
