Advanced Winter Technology Delivers Advanced Winter Traction

Building on the exceptional success of the Ice Guard IG10, the all-new Ice Guard IG20 represents a great leap forward in winter traction technology. Designed to cut through the watery film on ice that causes micro-hydroplaning, the IG20 features Yokohama's over a billion absorptive carbon flakes and more than 5 billion resin-coated shelled microbubbles. The tread design has been refined to offer better grip during acceleration, cornering and braking in the worst winter weather, including in slush and snow and on ice. The IG20 has also been optimized to provide long-lasting wear and low road noise.

Today there was a small ice storm in Montreal... and I can assure you these tires do not perform well on ice. I had Michelin tires before and they fared better on ice.

These tires are the BEST ice & snow gripping tires I have ever used. I have had Michelin X ice 2's & Bridgestone Blizzacks On the same car. The bridgestones were very good and similar to the Yokohama IG20's for traction but they just didnt last. They were done after the second year. The Michelin's were very smooth but offered NO deep snow traction. I do rural Postal Delivery in northern Ontario. I am out before the roads are plowed or salted and being safe in my car is the most important. The Yokohama's have made sure I come home safe to my kids Every nite

I got my IG20 Yokohama (195/65/15) installed on my 2012 CIVC a couple days ago and today we had our first snow in Montreal. Lucky? Not so soon. The tires drive safely on snow however, on ice they are no better than 4season tires. They have fare performance on dry or wet asphalt but terrible on cement roads. While driving on auto route 132 which has a 5km stretch of cement pavement, my car was being tossed left and right at speed of over 70km/h. At over 80km/h you have almost no control over the car. I should add that my new car has the antiskid system and that helped a bit. For comparison, last year I used to drive my old KIA rio equipped with less expensive Goodyear tires (bought from Canadian tire for $380)on the very same road and not only didn't have this problem also I felt very confident on them. In general I'm very disappointed with them given that I paid $680 for them. My recommendation is to avoid Yokohama. Comments about tires in general are confusing and in some good instances contradictory on the internet from one website to another. Giving a simple rating doesn't mean much without explaining details. I should add that I have 20 years of every-day driving experience and never had an accident. I know my car and how it responds to situations.

Best winter tire I have had on my car. Wind polished icy roads in western Canada are a piece of cake with these tires.
