Went with the Garit KX after using Toyo GSI-5 for 4 years... Overall, an excellent winter performance tire. Very good in loose and hardpack snow, adequate on ice, good on wet roads, ok on dry bare roads. Compared to the GSI-5, which I would highly recommend, and have on my other vehicle, the Garit KX is about the same in loose and hardpack snow, not quite as good on pure ice, better on wet roads, and with a firmer feel on dry roads. (Note: NOT high performance summer tire firmer, but better than other winter tires I have used.) Plus, the sipes are full depth, not half depth like on many other winter tires, so winter performance should be ok'ish right down to the wear bars. No Complaints ! EDMONTON , AB, where winter is 6 months long !

I've used Toyo Observe winter tires for many years, but this the first year with the Garit KX. Coming home on the highway yesteday there was a SUV rolled over in the ditch at the bottom of a hill. The SUV in front of me had trouble going up the hill constantly sliding out with his rear wheels, where as I did not slip a wheel keeping pace with my FWD sedan--5 stars for Toyo Garit KX!
