THE ICE PERFORMANCE WITH ZERO COMPROMISE

This is the ideal choice for those who drive in Nordic winter conditions looking for a high level of stability and control with a superior driving comfort.

The ICE ZERO™ FR is the studless solution of the Pirelli ICE ZERO™ collection: performance and control at top level. Specifically developed for owners of city/medium cars, premium sedans and SUV.

  • Directional tread pattern design enhances grip on all surfaces
  • High sipe density in the central area that increase the snow retention and the grip level
  • Specific sipes that quickly clean the surface from the water film generated by the ice under the tyre
  • 3D sipe technology keeps the tread blocks stable also at higher speeds
  • Increased footprint and improved regular pressure distribution allows better traction and braking safety

I have had a chance to evaluate these tires on snow, ice, and slush over the past two months. The ratings are based on winter conditions. Dry traction is often influenced by salt residue on the pavement, so this is not a big variable on winter tires. Wet is for operation in slush. The directional tread on these tires works very well here. Snow traction is excellent, as is grip on ice. Stability is also very good. They have been quiet so far, but are not silent. The treadwear is a guess based on the fact that the tread rubber is very soft, about the same as the pink eraser on a #2 Mirado pencil. I think it would be unwise to run these at temperatures above 10C, and you don't want to slide them when dry. Note I have two sets of these. The other is on my wife's 2008 Saab 9-3 2.0T Sedan with the same tire size on 16" rims. Summer tires go on 17" rims with 45 series.

Given the reviews, and upon my garage's recommendation,I originally had a set of Michelin x ice xi3 .During the first snow storm in December 2016.They had me slipping on the freeway, and side streets.I had to fight to keep the car in my lane.I couldn't get them off my car fast enough. I have always liked Pirelli ,even Michelin all seasons.Just drove in the storm today on the Ice Zero FR, with a fairly heavy, wet snowfall.Purposely drove on side streets, and accelerated on both flat, and up hill surfaces, with some aggressive cornering.I did this during the afternoon, and evening where I was hoping for some ice as the temperature dropped. These tires didn't slip,or so LITTLE,I didn't notice! I've also had a set of Blizzak WS70 ,and those slipped on an AWD ,CUV in snow covered conditions, with some freezing rain.NOT good on gridlocked roads where you want to pass, and have control. I cannot comment on treadwear since it's barely month two of the first winter.Site's forcing me to add treadwear,so it's a premature, reluctant 4 based on VERY early experience.

i just swapped these out with my summer tires.Very good grip, cornering, stopping and quiet ride.Actually have 225/45 r17 on my Golf car .Page did not let me select this tire size/yes it did at the end/.So far happy with tires. .I gave some 4 ratings because i have not tried it in dry yet/Calgary/ and these tires are very new for Treadwear.
