We live on the top of a steep hill and after 30K the tires slipped in the snow a little. So we got x-ice tires for the winter now and the two sets make a great combo, especially if you put a premium on handling and quietness. With the snow tires in winter we can get the full life out of the latitudes which are very quiet and handle great. If I had to go with just one set of tires, I would pick the Premiere LTX. Almost as quiet as the latitude but better in the snow.
