Do NOT buy tires from Achilles! DO NOT! These tires are built POORLY, and they are DANGEROUS. I have had 4 tires now - 285/35/22 111 load rated Desert Hawk UHP tires - fail. It's plain why: the belts in the tires are not strong enough. You'll notice on the tread profile that the center tread bloc is solid: it is only there that the tires have retained their original diameter. Read that again. Every tread bloc emanating outward from the center line of the tire has expanded. The tires literally look like a YOYO viewed from the front: the outermost and innermost tread blocks have bulged and inflated the diameter of the tire nearly ONE INCH larger than the measurement of the center (solid) treadbloc. Achilles has been completely unresponsive to my numerous attempts to gain recourse, and I promised that I would put this sort of public notice everywhere I could to stop people from buying tires from this company. THIS IS NOT A FLUKE. 4 tires have failed in the exact same way. DO NOT BUY.

I loved these tires - until I didn't. @ 8-9/32nds of tread left, I had an outer belt let go, and the tread delaminated from the tire in a 5" flap. I replaced the tire with another Achilles Desert Hawk UHP, but now I think I made a mistake: ANOTHER tire has developed a defect: there is a bulge in the same inside treadblock area that the first tire failed. This one is fairly slight so far, but I can feel the 'bump' in my steering wheel. The vehicle is heavy (Range Rover Sport Supercharged), but this tire is load rated beyond the requirements, so it shouldn't be an issue. Very irritating, and I need an avenue of recourse. 315/35/20 at the back and 275/40/20 in front. Quieter, softer ride and comparable handling to the runflats they are replacing. Good dry and wet tyres. Don't know anything about snow here in Johannesburg South Africa. Genuinely impressed. I could not get more than 30000km from any of the runflats. With 10000km done, there's 90% life left on the tyre. At 20000km I'm going to swop them from one side to the other to even out the tyre wear.

I purchased these purely based on the price point for my wife's Ford Flex. We run a studded winter tire, so I can't comment on their snow handling, but so far no complaints with the handling or noise in dry or wet conditions. Can't beat the price or service from 1010 Tires either.

To whom it may concern I had purchase for these tires from Coastal Tire Incorporated Edgewater Florida less than two years ago there is only 17,000 miles on the tires and the belts seem to be coming loose and the tread has been worn down as was stated by the employee of said company to the point that they cannot give any kind of discount. I purchased this Tyre with 90,000 miles on my vehicle it now has 107,000 miles on it which indicates that the where the tire is not sufficient and that the belts on the tire seem to have a problem and I'm going to have to purchase new tires of not the same company. As was stated to me that coastal Tyre would take all four of my tires off I would have to pay the going price and they would send them back to the company and see if indeed there is a problem, I know there's a problem and there is no guarantee to back this up I am totally upset of the way I have been treated on this transaction. I was assuming at least the tires were good for at least 28,000 miles or better. I would like to know if there is some type of a guarantee that was not explained to me and get some kind of compensation for the defective tires. Michael Goncalves email [email protected]
