The Blizzak WS-70, with its new multi-cell compound and 3D sipe technology, is a tire that will get you where you need to go regardless of weather conditions. The NanoPro-Tech compound optimizes snow and ice performance by controlling the interactions of the polymer, filler and rubber chemicals at the molecular level. It also features four main grooves to channel snow, slush and water away from the tread contact area.

  • Optimizes snow and ice performance by controlling interactions of polymer
  • Enhanced block stiffness improves ice handling
  • Improved slush performance

Great tire for winter conditions. These coupled with a 180 pounds of sand in my trunk and a less aggressive tune have got me through 3 Calgary winters with no problems whatsoever. They handle snow, ice and slush brilliantly. You obviously need to realize that these tires aren't going to make your car perform in the snow/ice as well as it would on dry pavement which I think some reviewers expected but I haven't been stuck once with them despite the RWD, sporty nature of my car. Once winter is over though, they need to be removed as the dry traction is atrocious. They spin very easily, lock up under moderate braking, flex like crazy through corners, and get very floaty at highway speeds. After the temperature gets above 5*C consistently, it's time to switch back over to your all season/summer tires. Once again, if you realize the purpose and limitations of these tires, they are excellent; just don't expect to use them year round.

I bought these tires on sale for $600 in novemeber, and since then, I've been very confident with them. Waterloo, ontario has some very vicious winters, particularly this one. Handles great, very quiet and smooth on the highway, and in the city. I do about 50/50 city/hwy. Fuel economy isn't the greatest, but thats usually due to the cold temperatures and the nature of winter. Overall, I would recommend them to anyone.
