"Armor-Tek3®" Carcass Construction. The heavy duty carcass of the Discoverer STT™ is constructed of two radial polyester body plies and one angled polyester body ply to provide 3 full plies of protection for superior resistance to impact breaks and bruising. Scalloped Shoulder Lugs. The shoulder tread lugs of the Discoverer STT™ are scalloped so that one section always has a clear shot at fresh ground for superb traction in soft surface applications and additional gripping power in off-road applications. Resistant Tread Compound Rim Flange Protector. The Discoverer STT™ has a specially developed tread compound that helps resist the cutting, tearing and chunking commonly developed in extended off-road applications. Strategically placed in the lower side wall area, a raised rim protector helps protect the wheel and tire from hazards in off-road driving conditions while enhancing the Discoverer STT™´s appearance. Super Traction Tread. The new Discoverer STT™´s computer designed, non-directional tread employs a combination of features including deep buttress lugs, notched and scalloped shoulder lugs, and a unique center traction zone to create a bold, aggressive tire for tough off-road applications.

Bought a set of 33 12.5 R17 for my 4 X 4 Suburban, got 90K plus miles out of them driving a lot of freeway miles to the surf, snow, Sierra's for backpacking. Bought another set, almost 80K rotating like crazy. These developed cupping pretty bad. Bought another set and started cupping really bad right from the git go. At 45K they said they didn't have enough weight in the shop to balance them. The tread's almost gone anyway. One shredded itself. Drove about 120 miles to a concert round trip, woke up in the morning and the side walls were shredded and the rim was sitting on the ground. I've got a 60 gallon compressor sitting right were I park this and my work truck just so I can check tire inflation and use air tools to rotate tires easily. It's not like I was driving around on a flat tire. I don't drink or take drugs either. I should probably find a tire that is not so squirrelly in the snow anyway. The great tire was made pre-recession, since then it's been junk as far as I'm concerned. Which really bothers me because I'd like to see Cooper succeed.
