I drive about 30,000kms a year and in the winter the highway I drive is not plowed and I have never been stuck and I have driven in snow up to my headlights.

Aggressive Driver (Hard Cornering)
My tires were bought used, with just around 60-75% left and I think is around 5 years old if I read the sidewall code correct. Shop said it may have only 1-2 seasons left, but it was priced right at the time.
Treadwear is great on these things. Also great on cold, dry asphalt. No noticeable difference in handling and comfort as with my Kumho and GT Radial all-seasons (when the DS-3 is under 7 degree temps). Noise is as expected of a winter tire. Not a lot of snow experience yet so I reserve my opinion on that.
One recently embarrassing, and potentially catastrophic incident happened on these tires one rainy night. I was driving downhill approaching an intersection. I missed/didn't see the yellow light which turned red and had to brake hard while going around 70-80 km/h. A car was turning left on the yellow at the intersection, so I had to put my foot down. My car doesn't have ABS, it was pouring rain hard, temperature around 10 degrees, and I was downhill. I braked hard for about 1 second, car started to go squirrely so I let go once the turning car cleared (near collision!). Then I put my foot down on the accelerator to clear the intersection as fast possible since it was solid red light already and I was in the middle. The tire did a skid of about 2-3 car lengths when I was braking, but the takeoff was fast without any wheel-spin. The (used) tire did well preventing me from getting into trouble when by all intents and purposes I should have crashed and hurt people with my own carelessness.
Based on my experience (100% city driving around Toronto), I might get the new Dunlop Winter Maxx, or Blizzaks if budget permits when it comes to replacing this set since the DS-3 is discontinued.
