Ice! Not any better than an all season tire on smooth ice. Ok on roughened or textured ice, dry snow and hard pack. No good in wet snow on thawing hard pack driving forward, but fair in reverse. The directional tread probably explains this. Other sizes are probably getting the more favorable reviews. Going back to the better Michelin X Ice.

These tires were pretty decent in the first couple of winters, especially in mixed conditions, but after a bit of use, their ice performance has become non-existent and they do quite badly in deeper snow. You know your tires aren't doing well when a crappy FWD car takes off better than your AWD beast on a tiny bit of black ice. Otherwise they are fairly comfortable and have continued to do pretty well in shallower snow and slush, but I wouldn't buy them again, considering how much performance they lose over time.

Ice traction i would rate a 0 out of 5 because once you hit ice you are done. But overall it is a great tire for dry pavement and wet surfaces such as slush and rain and a medium snow fall. Not recommended for deep snow 1 foot plus. Tread wear is by far the best. I had these tires on my car for 2 years straight through all seasons and the tread did not wear out at all. But the side wall where the tire mounts the rim is weak after 2 years and youll keep getting flat tires because of it and thats after 2 years of use. They grip the dry summer pavement extremely well. This year I bought the Nokian tyres 8 studded just because the roads here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada get very icy and i cant compromise on my safety. But for spring summer and fall next year ill be buying another set of these Goodyear Ultra Grip WRT ICE tires. To drive on for those 3 seasons. Again these tires are no good on ice you will spin out and or have no traction or steering on light ice with these tires. Its a scary feeling having no control when driving and hitting black ice.

Wow. Love these tires for my 2015 Forester. Most of my winter driving in Ottawa is on mostly clean cold surfaces and these do really well on that. They're not great in more than a few inches of snow, so country road driving may not be great... but where it's been plowed in the city/highway they do very well. Obviously the four wheel drive helps. Breaking is consistent as well. Would buy these again.
