The Ultra Grip Winter is Goodyear´s Studdable Winter - Snow tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers, as well as sport utility vehicles and passenger-oriented light-duty pickup trucks. Designed to offer high levels of traction in cold wintertime temperatures, Ultra Grip Winter radials are molded to accommodate the use of optional metal studs to increase traction on hard-packed snow and ice.

  • Vehicles should always be equipped with equivalent tires at all wheel positions. All Ultra Grip Winter radials, due to their exceptional hard-packed snow and ice traction when studded, must be used in sets of four to help ensure proper vehicle control.
  • Goodyear Ultra Grip Winter tires meet the industry´s severe snow service requirements and are branded with the mountain - snowflake symbol.
  • Install Ultra Grip Winter tires in sets of four only.

Tires only lasted 40k km / one season before hitting the wear bars. Rubber became work-hardened after 35k km. I rotated them every 10k km. Alignment was checked when mounted, and at 20k km. Dry traction was good, but snow/wet traction was poor below -15C. Could spin the tires in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear with only mild throttle. I now have a set of blizzacks, and they only spin in 1st/2nd with full throttle. The soft sidewalls made the steering feel numb, but they absorbed bumps well. Comfort / noise was never an issue. If you can get a good price, and don't drive much. These should be fine. But if you drive a lot like me, I'd stay away.

Ski instructor, lyft / Uber driver , 72,000 miles driven in last 13 months . A snow ❄️ tire is to get you thru snow , in other words, you buy a snow tire when the weather is of 0 consequence to you driving your car. Foot of snow ? Let’s go . The tire has proven super capable . The tire design clearly isn’t for hard cornering in snow , neither is this particular car , but if you want a tire where you can drive 60/65, confidently , when others are crawling/ crapping in there pants with some all season radial at 35/40, this tire is tough to beat . If you know snows from back in the day , Sears’ Ice Snow Radial / Good Years f-32’s , this tire is more sears esque which were nt as good at cornering as the good year f32 . Know how to handle your car going forward / changing lanes / giving proper distance braking and slowing down on turns ? This tire is as competent as they come . I’ve seen it deployed on the Saratoga Springs police vehicles , the state troopers use the higher end better handling good year snows which are pricier . I’m putting my worn ones on the rear and buying new ones for the front this week . No studs . As an added bonus about this tire and this is where the tire blows my mind , heavy rain . This tire channels water better than any tire I’ve ever experienced . I’ve had p7 Pirelli Cinturatos trailing these snows last year , the p7 are a competent tire for ride , noise , handling dry light rain roads , but heavy rain ? They stink . When it rained this season summer , wish I could snooker my nose like Jeannie and pop those Ultra grips on the road.
