I have two Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles, both driven by college aged kids. I put subject tires on the 2004 Grand Prix back in 2013 and only got 27,000 miles before getting to the wear bar!! Tread wear was relatively even, and tire rotations were performed according to required schedule. So this tread wear issue is strictly due to inferior tire design. Note, that this is supposed to be 90,000 mile tire!! I recently read the following quote from Stephen Peters, brand category manager at Michelin from this web site http://www.tirereview.com/michelin-expanding-defen
der-promise/ : “Warranty is a selling tool not a real-world promise on tread life”. That’s a telling statement from Michelin leadership and I now have a firsthand experience of that. I have decided to no longer purchase the Michelin brand for ANY of my vehicles. I recently purchased Goodyear Assurance tires for my daughter’s 2005 Grand Prix, Cooper Discoverer Tires for my 2006 Silverado and Uniroyal Tiger Paw Tires for the subject vehicle, which is my son’s 2004 Grand Prix. Thus far, I’ve been very happy with performance and wear on all three vehicles and all these tire choices were much less expensive than the comparable Michelin tire option. My wife’s 2002 Suburban is now ready for another set of tires and they will NOT be the Michelin brand. In fact, I plan to purchase another set of the Cooper Discoverer.

I bought these tires to replace the Michelin Energy Saver tires on my Fusion Hybrid. My mileage dropped and average of 4 to 5 MPG. The tries are also very noisy on many roads and when going into corners. Sounds on certain pavements like a bearing wearing out. I have had the bearings checked and no problem there. I'm thinking of replacing them even though I only have 15,000 miles on them.

Second set of Defender AS tires I purchased. At 27,000 miles, tread is worn to unsafe level. Worn evenly. Warranty is 90,000 miles. Balanced and rotated every 6,000 miles. Aligned every 6-8,000 miles. Will never purchase in future.

We bought these for my wife's Matrix. Simply put, they are the worst tires we've ever owned and are our first, and last, set of Michelins. They suck! While brand new, my wife noticed that in wet weather, they would spin while started from a stop and she is not an aggressive driver. What I really want to warn you about is the treadwear- these tires have a rating of 90,000 miles and are worn out after 37,000. Don't waste your hard earned money, buy something else!!
