The Winter IceControl is Pirelli brand new winter tire dedicated to high performance on icy surfaces. It was developed with safety as the primary concern, which results in a new silica compound and a new sipe design which enhances safety on ice, snowy and cold, dry surfaces.

Two winters on these tires now, approx 5,000km per winter. They aren't *quite* as bad as all seasons, but Michelin X-Ice (1,2 or 3) or Bridgestones Blizzaks are WAY better. Will make a point of never getting these again.

I am a very serious driver,I demand the best from everything I put on my Mercedes c-class 4matic. The car originally had new Winterclaw tires on it and i had to remove them (they were awful, I gave them to the mechanic that put on my new ones) and put a new set of these on. I Live in Northern Alberta, one of the most extreme cold environments on earth and I must say these tires are great! Total confidence on ice, so much so that even passengers note the security they feel. Tires are the quietest winter tire I've ever had (I've had probably 10 brands over the years) snow performance isn't as amazing as ice performance but still very good. Wear has been very even so far but it is only the first winter. I am a crazy stupid driver and I need technology to keep me out of the ditch, great tire!

Tires are great when roads are Dry. Handling is amazing during dry conditions. During wet conditions they could be better. My Michelin All Seasons were much better in the rain especially during hard cornering. During a hard turn on highway Ramps above 100 KM/H I can feel these tires start to lose control. I guess maybe it's good enough for an average driver but not for someone who is aggressive like me, I guess it bothers me. In terms of driving in snow I can say that taking off is great. I can take off very well. However during emergency braking in snow these tires are not that good. A few times my car felt like it was sliding and the ABS was working its tail off. I will admit I drive pretty hard so it is how I drive that I am giving the review for this tire. I did have a few close calls, I will admit. In terms of comfort they are pretty decent with the exception of the steering wheel feeling stiff, maybe it's in my head. Noise is good however during dry conditions and braking it can get noisy. It is a winter tire so I understand that the tread pattern results in noisier tires. The treadwear is pretty good. I have driven the tires over 20,000KM and I have barely seen any tread go off them. Overall these tires are average. I like my General Altimax Tires better than these. The General Tires were noisier but braking in snowy conditions was something I have never seen.
