 Toyo Observe G3-Ice Studdable

It's a dedicated snow tire so dry handling is not its strong suit. The soft, rubbery, sipe-y tread squirm and blocky construction that makes a good snow tire detract, unsurprisingly, from a tire's dry-road potential. They're great at pumping water in the wet, leaving tracks behind that may well be dry for all I know. In snow or slush they're very good, giving surprisingly good braking and acceleration in adverse conditions. The tire can't overcome the pushy STI chassis in corners but a predictable recovery is a tap of the throttle away. On ice they impress less, perhaps merely average. They _are_ studdable though so if freezing rain is your game and studs are legal where you drive, there's no reason I can see to not get these above-average snow tires. (I've only had them for a few hundred KMs now and can't vouch for treadlife...)

 Ohtsu FP8000

I drive a 2010 Subaru Sti. I drive a lot of windy back roads, where I live there are a lot of scenic "provincial park" type of roads so they are kept in great shape. Coming from Hankook Ventus tires previously. Firstly, these were much easier on the wallet for a set of 4. I get a lot of rain here and wanted something with a good water tread. The tires are comfortable and quieter than the Hankooks. Owned for 6 months so far so treadwear remains to be seen. Grip is lacking due to the tread pattern, and in some corners I can feel the car slipping laterally when accelerating out. Keep in mind, I have AWD and I can still feel the car slipping. Sometimes the tires will squeal around tight corners, which did not happen with the Hankooks. That was a tradeoff with the tread pattern. If you are looking for a good street tire that will perform in the rain and can still hold it's own when dry this is a good middle ground. I am satisfied, but my next set will be more dry traction oriented like my Hankooks.

 Kumho Solus HA31

I bought these tires in 2015 and have at least half the tread left. My car started shaking and I went to the tire place where I bought them from. What a shock to find out that 3 of the 4 tires were all coming apart inside and I am lucky to be alive. As these were faulty tires I should of at least had a recall warning. I will NEVER buy these again! Warning to anyone who has these death traps on their vehicle and I am sure they don't know it! Check your tires if you bought them 1n 2015!

 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-80

This is the second set of Blizzak WS-80s I have purchased. They have an extremely "squishy" feeling compared to high performance summer tires because on the tread/sidewalls but I don't drive as aggressively in the winter. They have the most grip of any winter tire that I have used and feel much more confident in the snow. I would recommend this tire to anyone.

 Cooper Weather-Master WSC

These are my favorite winter tires for highway driving with occasional back road adventures. I'm now on my second set. I have always run these tires with studs. My previous set of WSC's managed almost 70k km before hitting the wear bars. I rotated the tires every 10k km, and swapped left / right side tires at 40K. The tread design is a perfect compromise between dry and deep snow traction. They dig through deep snow without sounding like mud tires at highway speeds. And have good traction on dry pavement. Ice traction is great with studs. No complaints there. I haven't run these without studs. The sidewalls are on the soft side for winter tires. Steering is numb on dry pavement. You can definitely feel the sidewalls flex when pushing the car on corners. The upside is that ride comfort is really good. The tires do a good job absorbing bumps / potholes. Cooper did a great job balancing preformance in all conditions. Definitely recommend.

 Nitto NT555 G2

Haven't put many KMs on these yet. They replaced a set of g-force T/A KDW2s which were really noisy but handled very well. These tires give up some ultimate dry grip to the KDWs though part of this could be the newness/depth of tread compared to the half-worn KDWs. They lack the immediacy and precision turn-in of the old tires but take a nice set and feel confident. In the rain these tires feel very secure and planted. Not much is going to be comfortable in an STi but these seem pretty good so far. They're not quite as quiet as I'd hoped but they're much quieter than the last tires; I'll take that as a win. I don't have enough miles to comment on treadwear; the STi is pretty easy on tires when driven sanely so I have hopes of long wear on these.

 Nitto Neo Gen

Wet performance is definitely lacking, I’ve gone around corners with light rain and driving semi-cautious and have had these tires break loose when they shouldn’t have. My stock tires performed much better than these do.

 Pirelli P-Zero

I had these tyres for 3 years 60,000 km, they were very noisy that people could not hear me on my Bluetooth anymore. These Tyres were great in dry condition. Great performance tyres for quick around the corner or windy roads.
